Riga Opera Festival 2010 Every summer, the festival marks the end of the Latvian National Opera’s performance season with an overview of the best moments of the previous year, offering fans a chance to relive their favourite scenes or see what they’ve missed. This year, the Riga Opera Festival will take place on June 8–18 at the Latvian National Opera. The Riga Opera Festival offers productions of the previous seasons including Don Giovanni, L'elisir d'amore, Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, and the new production of Massenet’s Werther. The Riga Opera Festival’s concluding gala will celebrate the 60th birthday of the outstanding Latvian baritone Samsons Izjumovs with the concert performance of Verdi’s Macbeth. |

Sixth International Night of Museums
On 15 May 2010, 96 museums throughout Latvia will open their doors to visitors. The majority of museum events takes place start at 19.00 and run until or past the early morning hours.
Other participants in the Night of Museums include the National Library of Latvia, the Latvian National Theatre, the Daile Theatre, the Rīgas mākslas telpa (Riga Art Hall) exhibition hall, the Ave Sol! concert hall, the Spīķeri concert hall, the Riga Latvian Society, Bergs Bazaar and Zvaigzne ABC and Globuss bookstores.
As every year, museum visitors on the Night of Museums will receive museum admission free of charge.

Antique cars "Melngalvju Rally 2009" will be held in Riga From 23. to 26. May an antique car trip "Melngalvju Rally 2009” takes place in Riga. All interested parties will be able to look at vintage cars from 16.30 and 18.30 in the Town Square. On Sunday, 24th May antique cars kolone charity tour is planned, which will be attended by a group of children from the Riga municipal orphanage - shelters "Apīte".
