Riga Opera Festival 2010

Every summer, the festival marks the end of the Latvian National Opera’s performance season with an overview of the best moments of the previous year, offering fans a chance to relive their favourite scenes or see what they’ve missed.

This year, the Riga Opera Festival will take place on June 8–18 at the Latvian National Opera. The Riga Opera Festival offers productions of the previous seasons including Don Giovanni, L'elisir d'amore, Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, and the new production of Massenet’s Werther. The Riga Opera Festival’s concluding gala will celebrate the 60th birthday of the outstanding Latvian baritone Samsons Izjumovs with the concert performance of Verdi’s Macbeth. 

Riga Zoo

This year, from 4th December till 17th January 2010 Riga Zoo offers unprecedented opportunities - visit the zoo after dark, watch animal behavior, twilight, and get pleasant feelings provided by Christmas light decorations.

Admission during Winter Nights at the Zoo (4 December to 17 January)

The booking offices at the zoo will be open 10:00-18:00.

The animal exhibits will be open to the public until 20:00.

Light Festival on the 14th-18th November 2009

Within the limits of the festival the inhabitants and visitors of the capital city of Latvia, can examine the buildings and monuments of Riga in an unusual illumination.

Antique cars "Melngalvju Rally 2009" will be held in Riga

From 23. to 26. May an antique car trip "Melngalvju Rally 2009” takes place in Riga.

All interested parties will be able to look at vintage cars from 16.30 and 18.30 in the Town Square.

On Sunday, 24^th May antique cars kolone charity tour is planned, which will be attended by a group of children from the Riga municipal orphanage - shelters "Apīte". At. 10:00 automotive column part in the Reval Hotel Elizabete "and go to Bikernieki track where cars with regular visits during the control. These visits will also participate in the children. After regular trips cars will go to Riga Motormuseum, S. Eizenshteina Street 6, where the children and rally participants will address the Museum's exhibits. At the same time, until at. 14:00 at the Riga Motor antique car show will be held for interested parties.

Rally route from 16.05.-29.05.2009. will leave from Kiel to Klaipeda, Kursu across the dunes and Kaliningrad, Kaunas, Vilnius, Daugavpils, Riga, Tallinn, then by ferry to Helsinki and back to Germany (Travemunde).
